The EveryDrop Water Filter Cartridge is designed to remove other contaminants from drinking water, such as lead, mercury and arsenic.

Why does my filtered water sometimes have a funny taste or odor?

There are a few reasons why your filtered water may taste or smell funny:

  • The filter needs to be changed. This is the most common cause of off-tastes or odors, so it’s important to remember to change your filter every 40 gallons (151 liters) or 90 days, whichever comes first. For best results, we recommend replacing your Everydrop™ Water Filter at least every 6 months as well just in case!
  • The filter is dirty and needs to be cleaned. If you think this could be the issue, try cleaning out your refrigerator’s water dispenser by running a pitcher or two through it until clear before refilling with fresh filtered water from another source (such as an outside faucet). This may help get rid of any lingering flavors that are affecting only one pitcherful of filtered water at a time; however, if you find that more than one pitcherful tastes funny all the time with no visible dirt buildup inside our refrigerator’s dispenser then please contact us so we can send replacements right away!
  • Water has been sitting in the refrigerator too long without being used and therefore spoiled due to bacterial growth over time as well as exposure
